Summer time at Hanmer's Riverside Resort
Things begin to heat up with the coming of
summer, especially the area lakes and
rivers  At Hanmer’s, you can chose to find a
fishing spot under a cool shade tree, canoe
and kayak the Betsie or take a slow leisure
tube ride down the river.  And no matter the
weather conditions, our indoor pool is open
    for your enjoyment.
Benzie County offers plenty of local events, festivals,
weekly concerts and arts and crafts shows.  There
is the July fireworks in Beulah and Frankfort and the
annual week-long Cherry Festival in Traverse City that begins on July 5th.
You can take a trip up scenic highway M-22 to the Sleeping Bear Dunes or
book a tee-time at one of the areas championship quality golf courses. If
you are feeling daring, you can take a ride to
“Gravity Hill”, Putney Road in Blaine Township where
objects appear to roll uphill in excess of fifteen (15)
miles per hour, defying gravity.  Whether this spot is
a magnetic freak of nature or an optical illusion is uncertain.  At the top
of the hill rests the remains of a ghost town, where the church is over
100 years old.  It is told that cars placed in neutral will roll up hill to the
parking lot of the old church. This area which seems to defy gravity is
just miles from the forty-fifth (45th) parallel, the halfway distance from
the equator and the North Pole.   No matter what you chose, at the end
of the day you can relax around your own campfire, tell stories and plan
    for the next day.
